It is easy to take the exhaust system for granted. Do not worry. If your exhaust system is damaged, clogged, or leaking, we can repair it here at our auto service shop. We are the best auto repair shop in town.

Rumbling Engine

One sign that your exhaust system has a problem is a rumbling engine that is abnormally loud. This is an indication that you need to have a new muffler installed in the exhaust system because the old muffler is either damaged or has a hole in it. In addition, a rumbling engine can be a sign that the catalytic converter has been stolen.

Popping Noises

If you hear popping noises when you first fire up the engine, you’ve got a leak in the exhaust manifold. The gasket that seals the manifold can also make popping sounds if it is leaking. The best time to hear these sounds is while the engine is still cold. Once the engine heats up, the manifold and gasket may expand and seal the crack.

Poor Performance

Your engine relies on the exhaust system to help it perform efficiently. The exhaust system removes the exhaust produced in the combustion chamber so there is plenty of room for continued combustion. When the exhaust system gets clogged or leaks, the chamber may fill with exhaust and cause poor engine performance.

Poor Economy

Unfortunately, a side effect of the poor performance is poor fuel economy. The engine will consume more fuel if it is running poorly because it is not running efficiently. Consequently, you will find yourself heading to the service station more often in order to fill your tank. You don’t need us to tell you that this can get expensive.

Hanging Tailpipe

The tailpipe is a part of the exhaust system that can be damaged simply because of where it’s located. It is easy for road debris to hit the tailpipe and dent it or put a hole in it. The tailpipe can also get corroded by moist air or hang too low if it has been knocked hard on a curb.

Finally, you may end up with exhaust odors in your passenger cabin if the exhaust system is leaking or the catalytic converter has been stolen. Call us right away to schedule a service appointment.
